Noteworthy items:
1. On Saturday my side of the family had a reunion up at the Dell. We came about a half-hour before the production wrapped up, but I was still really impressed. My mom and her sisters worked really hard to make it a fun time for everyone. They did a get-to-know you game at the beginning (we missed this part). But everyone had to turn in a little unknown fact about themselves for everyone else to find out.
Anyway, back to the reunion...my mom made a pirate bean-bag toss, and a treasure chest filled with prizes for the kids.
While, Aunt Judy made a fish pond. Here's Kate checking out her cool prizes:
Aunt Diane gave a little life sketch about my Grandpa Argyle (and kind of made everyone teary-eyed). Aunt Judy, in turn, gave a life sketch about Grandma. It was pretty good as far as reunions typically go.
My two babies after the reunion
2. Kate finally completed her tooth-brushing chart. I think I've mentioned this before, but we'd all rather drill a hole in our heads than try to fight Kate to brush her teeth. The process is always EXCRUCIATING! But alas, she finally brushed a whole 2 weeks, so a prize was in order.
3. Kate got her pictures taken Saturday morning. We first took her to the Cookie Cutters to get a little trim, and then to Stephanie Winger's. Kate was as good as to be expected. She's never been one to be "cooperative" but she did well enough. At one point during the shoot, Kate had a melt-down. The photographer brought her little kids and puppy downstairs to the studio and Kate cheered right up. When I get the pics back, you'll see that several of the photos have this random puppy (but whatever kept Kate happy...). You'll also see a sucker in several of the photos. The lollipop was another soothing tool we used on Kate. Thank goodness that's all over with for another year, right?
4. Our nephew C.J. got hitched last Saturday. It was an all-day adventure for our family, but so fun to be part of. The temple ceremony was awesome. And following the ceremony, to make things even better, we went with Dave's siblings and parents downstairs for a little cafeteria pie (I so hate cafeterias, but not the temple's cafeteria; I could totally eat there every day). Anyway, the experience reminded us of our own wedding day, and all the fun that was involved with that.
NOT worthy items (that still managed to make it on the blog):
1. Dave and I attended my 10 year last weekend. SUPER LAME, as I anticipated, but am glad I went for the following reasons: 1) now I know that I don't ever want to go to another one 2) it sure made me feel great about my life's decisions compared to my classmates'. Dave left the event and said, "Gosh, you're reunion was like the Book of Bad Decisions." So true. Well said, Babe.
2. I went to the eye doctor last week and got my eyes dilated. I was literally blind. The doc said I would be fine to drive home. RIGHT...I was near-pooping my pants all the way home; I could barely see anything in front of me and was just sure I was going to wreck. Luckily, I made it home. Here's a pic of the damage:
3. I went back to school today. I've been absolutely dreading it, and things weren't so bad, after all. FFFFEWW!
Isn't it interesting that we can nearly make ourselves sick, worrying about going back to school? I, too, made it through the first day. Thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteWow! You have been really busy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk I love that I just learned some new facts about you and Dave, I'm glad you're both still alive to tell about it! I agree with you on the temple cafeteria and I almost peed when I read about you driving home with your eyes dilated. You crack me up! Good luck with your pupils and your pupils.
ReplyDeleteI feel very connected that I knew 2 of the 3 random facts. I didn't know about Dave's head injury - which I would like to hear more details on. What happened??
ReplyDeleteDo you know I've never eaten in a temple cafeteria? I might just have to try it out now...
Lame facts Aish...I knew all 3. Next time I'd go with kissing Bryon Russell or seeing Oprah in person. Also, I need the deets on the "Book of Bad Decisions." Perhaps you really could write a book about it. I'd read it.
ReplyDeleteOk, so your "pooping your pants" comment had me ROTFL. (It might be cause I'm a mother to young kids who are constantly thinking the word is funny, but that's another story). I love your blog it is SO cute! I'm so glad I found you. And Kate is ADORABLE. How old is she? I guess I could go back in your archives and try to find out, but I'm lazy.
ReplyDeleteYou are on dang funny! And I guess I am glad that I did not go to the reunion. How funny!
