Best idea ever! Kate and Cole had themselves a ball cruising around the mall on these things! I secretly wished I was 6 again.

Timp Cave Hike
Let me tell you, Timp Cave is something we’ve wanted to take our kids to for probably 7 years now! Unfortunately, we’ve proven to be a less than outdoorsy and sporty family than we’d like to admit. This was the year! We bit the bullet and scheduled our hike on Pioneer Day.
On the way up, it was fun to hear Cole thinking aloud, “There might be butterflies and all beautiful things in the cave.” Sweet Cole<3 !!!
The kids did great climbing that mountainside. It helped going early in the morning and not having to battle the summer heat.
Don’t let the backpack pics fool you! Max insisted on being carried (in arms) for most of the hike.
Alas…the cave!
Neat experience. Would have been about 100% neater if we had gotten to enjoy the cave in its entirety. About 2 minutes in, Max started screaming and couldn’t be consoled. And about 10 minutes in, Cole needed to pee (again). Thus, the mom and the little boys had to prematurely exit and wait outside for the cave tour to conclude. At least we all made it in and a fun family memory was made!

This is the Place
We always get the itching for a little pioneer fun right around Pioneer Day. It just so happened that Dave only had a few patients scheduled, so we were able to make a day of it. The mini train was out of order, which is really a huge bummer if you ask me (and you do). But we got to enjoy all others things fun; ice cream, good, sweaty pioneer work, crafts, and the likes. Dave even splurged and bought the kids their own geodes that they got to break. He’s way more loose with the wallet than I am…that’s why it’s good to let him come on fun outings every once in a while;)

Santa’s Little Helpers
Grandpa: the next best thing to Santa Claus

Grandpa Reese likes to turn wood in his free time. Whenever our little people get tended at Gma and Gpa’s that’s what they like to do too. Grandpa recently let each kid choose a color and then they made pens and necklaces together. The kids are so proud of their new treasures and the fact that they lent a hand in making them! How lucky they are to have grandparents!

Teacher in the Making
Kate has reached a magical age where she enjoys planning the most perfect FHE lessons. I can say with all honesty, that her lessons put mine and Dave’s to shame. I always hoped she’d use that brain of hers to become a doctor, but I think she may be doomed to follow the same career path as her mother. Oh, well. Teaching is fun too.

Wedding Bells
The day came! Mike and Alison got married, and just in the knick of time before leaving for Med school too! Hallelujah.
It was an all-day deal: wedding at Mt. Timp, pictures afterward, lunch at Los Hermanos, and the reception at Alpine Art Center. Fun day though!

And…a shout-out to my most darling husband! Had he not been there, no one would have thought to decorate the newlyweds’ car! He ran off and bought some cute little decorations and we all had fun adorning together.
