Saturday night-
Dave, Kate, and I went to dinner with two of our favorite friends, Ricks and Paul. You'd never guess they were two of our favorite people judging by how many times we've actually gone out in the past year (zero); nonetheless, some very fun friends. The Sampson's will be up and moving to D.C. for the summer so we figured we ought to say our goodbyes. I always love a goodbye if it involves dinner at Carraba's.
Sunday-
We enjoyed only two hours of church due to the fact that it was Stake Conference. Our ward also finally split. Dave received the plush job of Young Men's Second Counselor (this job usually requires scouting, but someone else will be taking over the that portion). I'm not sure how he lucked out on that one; perhaps righteousness has something to do with it. Me, on the other hand, not so lucky...I've landed the recurring, never-ending, "awesome" calling of Webelos Den Leader. No, um, I'm not crying...it must be those darn allergies! Once again, not sure how I scored that one, but righteousness probably has something to do with it ;)
Monday-
We started testing at school. I have to read verbatim from a testing manual and am tired of hearing myself say, "Fill in the bubble next to the correct answer." On an exciting side note, our class caterpillars metamorphosized over the weekend into their cocoons. One boy said, "I can't believe we actually get to see this happen!" which I thought was pretty dang cute.
Another event of the day that made me feel super great about myself...splitting the seam of a second pair of pants in one month. Dave thinks my clothes are shrinking. I think my metabolism is.
After school, Ricks and her little tots came over to play with Kate and me. Kate loves to hold and talk baby to Baby Lucy and calls her, "Baby Sucie." I find it amuzing that Kate doesn't recognize that she, too, is a baby.
Family Home Evening consisted of ripping out poor landscaping choices that previous owners thought were a good idea. We've still got changes to make, but one step at a time.
I have had a fantastic weekend hanging with the Blackhursts. Maybe when we get back we will see each other a lot more (seeing as I will live farther away). Thanks for dinner and tell Dave that he's our Customer Service Guru. And if you are looking for a getaway this summer, you know we have an air mattress with your name on it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a very busy weekend! Once again I am wishing my kids were in your class!
ReplyDeleteLove the update, and am so traumatized for you that you're still a den leader...
ReplyDeleteWhy you? Why you? It just isn't fair! Den leader is a curse that you don't deserve. Did you at least get a good assistant? I still haven't seen your house and would love to come see the landscaping that you are replacing! Now that Ricks is gone I just kick myself that we didn't get together more often. We should go on a road trip to see her!
