On Sunday of our trip, we had little breakfast for the kings. Incredible cream-cheese and strawberry stuffed french toast, topped with a vanilla bean custard filled our bellies, along with eggs, toast, hashbrowns, ham, o.j. and hot cocoa. Nope, the Blackhurst's don't eat light!
After breakfast, it was time for church. It was a really good fast and testimony meeting, reminding me of what church was like outside of Utah, but not necessarily giving me that yearning to go back to it. After church, we checked out of the hotel and stopped by the San Diego temple.
Beautiful and majestic, but then we all knew that.
We drove the rest of the way to Long Beach, where we could be close to the airport for our flight the next morning. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, and might I just say...looks, they can be deceiving! Based off the online pics and four-star rating, I expected much more out of that hotel. Eeghh. Kind of dirty.

We spent the rest of the day walking around the Long Beach area, and most importantly, going to dinner at my one and only Houston's. Their crab cakes are truly heaven, and their Buttermilk Garlic dressing and traditional salad, well, they're heaven too. Have I mentioned this before? Oh, Houston's. If only you'd set up shop in Utah.

LGB airport was kind of a nightmare the next morning. The airport (if you've been, you'll know) isn't suited for large crowds and multiple flights. It's small, actually tiny, and made up of several trailers or satellites that serve as the gates. So that morning, there were two flights at once, and the airport was in a real pickle! The check-in lines were LONG, and I think they were terribly understaffed. We were only minutes away from not making our flight. Don't want to diss LGB, though. It's normally quite nice and quaint--nothing like LAX airport.
.
Anyway, that's the whole (or the short) of our trip. We definitely made many new happy memories!
That room service sounded heavenly. And I'm glad you got your Houston's fix!
ReplyDeleteWish we could have come with you guys. Seriously...I need some room service. I also scrolled through and saw your edible arrangments, very impressed! When I get back from AZ we need to get together again :)
