It's not everyday you get to stand next to a bird with a 10 foot wingspan. This is a condor. Kate and I came across this thing at Tracy Aviary this morning. When he opened his wings I nearly ran; he was just huge! The picture does no justice (I only had my cell phone camera), but he was a definite favorite!
This creature to your left is extremely rare; best-known for it's beauty and strong will. You can see how she measures up to the other birds...
Kate's favorite part of the day was likely every other kids' favorite. Here she is feeding the ducks. Do you like her day old hair-do? Thanks, mom!
Another highlight of the trip included the peacocks who walked freely around the park. It was really cool seeing their feathers all fanned out. Also cool, was the bird show (although, come to think of it, it kind of sucked compared to Hogle Zoo's bird show), the eagles, the emu's,
and these cute parrot-like birds that were very friendly and came right up to the fence and actually said, "Hello." I had never been to the aviary. For being a place devoted to birds only, it was surprisingly fun. I think I'll go back.

I've never been either...but I've really wanted to gp there...I'll have to google it and see if it has evening hours so that while we have the kids Zak and I can go there.
ReplyDeleteWe've never been before, so now you've given me another way to entertain my kids this summer!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Kate is so cute! We need to do a playdate, give me an email, I have lost your info. camiarmantrout@yahoo.com.
ReplyDeleteI went as a kid (I guess without Natalie?) and loved it! Glad you liked it too. That is one solid hair-do to last two days!!
