I'll Be Loyal!

Did you know that Webelos stands for "We'll Be Loyal Scouts"? Neither did I...that is...until I was trained by the Boy Scouts of America on Saturday. That's right...you're looking at the newest Webelos Den Leader!

So it was a 5 hour ordeal, taught by some of the BSA's finest! There I learned all the secret handshakes/signals, pledges, oaths, and what have you! I also racked up the credit card purchasing books, manuals, and a very sexy uniform for myself (I've always been a sucker for uniforms).
It was actually really hard to understand having never been a scout myself, nor ever having a child be a part of the scouting organization. I'm still all sorts of confused, but look forward to holding weekly den meetings at my place. It should make for some fun times, and some interesting upcoming blogs.

  1. That's the most uninteresting fact I've ever heard! J/K Congrats on that super calling! Paul says that the only possible perk about having all girls is never having to do scouts. Maybe your experience will convince him otherwise. I've always thought yellow with touches of blue (in bandana form) was just the look for you. I DEMAND pictures.

  2. Dude I was webelos leader for a few months and I liked it. The kids are at that totally nerdy stage in life and some of them have got it and some still haven't found themselves yet. Do a lot of visual stuff and have them make lots of projects and they will love you. Good luck and remember to keep your hands to yourself!!! Just Kidding.

  3. Ashley,
I found your blog from the Williams. We had been wondering about you guys, so I'm glad I can keep up this way. I knew you had a baby, but it's so cute to actually see you guys with her. Kate is adorable, and only a few months younger than Brady. I'm excited to keep in touch now.

  4. Ouch, I'm not sure how I'd feel about that calling. I don't have a calling yet in my ward and I'm gonna cross my fingers that I can stay an unloyal person forever!

  5. I've done cub scouts before, and I still don't get all the weird handshakes and symbols. Like Lindsay, I'm hoping to see some pics of you in your getup. Good luck!

  6. Funny, I learned that this month as well since I am now over all cub scouts in the Primary Pres. Who knew? Did you also read the jungle book story? Totally awesome! ;)
